Please, please, please get this on CRAN. That way it’ll be available in the National safe haven for linked data projects. Some of these functions would be *super* handy.

      Hi David,

Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately I left PHS a couple of weeks before this post was published and I’m not responsible for maintenance of the package anymore. I have however passed on your comment to one of the current maintainers.

I can’t promise that it’ll make it onto CRAN unfortunately. I’d like to think it’s not far off of meeting the standards required of a CRAN package, but finding an analyst in PHS who’s willing and able to take on that responsibility is no easy task. I was in the privileged position of being able to work on the package more or less full time in parts, but I was fairly unique in that sense. The current maintainers (as well as most of the contributors) have to carve out the time from their regular work, and CRAN may a bridge too far at the moment on top of that. I would recommend leaving an issue for them on GitHub if you’re so inclined though – it’d at least keep external interest in the package fresh in their mind.

      Thanks,

      Jack

The transforming publishing team have done amazing work at both the “back-end” and front-end of modernising work at ISD. This has great potential to lead to even more in the future for Public Health Scotland in terms of reliability, efficiency, openness and quality.

      Hi David,

Thanks for the kind words – always reassuring to have your approval! This is just the latest in the list of great things that tiny team have achieved and I sincerely hope they’ll be given the means to keep adding to it in future.

      Thanks,

      Jack
